چکیده

Abstract Grapefruit (G) parts contain abundant phenolic acids and flavonoids (PPNs FLVs). The wastes created from exocarps, mesocarps (G wastes, GW) waste blanching water (WBW) lead to a considerable loss of PPNs FLVs. Here, we assessed Buntan (CB), Hayata (CBH), Peiyu (CP) cultivars observed amounts ethanolic extracts GW (GWE) WBW contained gallic acid, protocatechuic chlorogenic caffeic ferulic coumaric naringin, hesperidin, diosmin, quercetin, hesperetin, nobiletin, tangeretin (GWC). GWE has previously been reported be relatively active antioxidant, anti-inflammatory (based on the expression TNF-α in Raw264.7 cells), antihypertensive, anti-hyperglycemic compound. IC 50 values for antihyperglycemic activity with α-amylase were as follows: CB (27.96 ± 0.03 mg/mL) < CP (28.13 0.19 CBH (41.60 0.16 mg/mL), those α-glucosidase (1.80 (2.97 0.29 (9.10 0.51 mg/mL). GWC upregulated Glut4 HepG2 cells, well insulin secretion capability, intracellular levels RIN-m5F it downregulated DPP4 cells. angiotensin-converting enzyme were: CBP (5.10 0.02 (7.24 0.65 (8.60 2.03 Our results indicate that FLVs present are worth reclaiming.

The antioxidants dilemma: are they potentially immunosuppressants and carcinogens?

INTRODUCTION Antioxidants and a large number of natural supplements were introduced in recent decades (Lu et al., 2013). It has been hypothesized that antioxidant consumption might reverse oxidative stress which decreases the adverse effects elicited as outcomes of oxidative stress including inflammation, carcinogenesis, and atherosclerosis (Ghorbanihaghjo et al., 2012; Bjelakovic et al., 2014)...

Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors for Alzheimer's disease: anti-inflammatories in acetylcholine clothing!

The pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) has been linked to a deficiency in the brain neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Subsequently, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AChEIs) were introduced for the symptomatic treatment of AD. The prevailing view has been that the efficacy of AChEIs is attained through their augmentation of acetylcholine-medicated neuron to neuron transmission. However, AChE...

Recovery and concentration of antioxidants from winery wastes.

Grape and wine byproducts have been extensively studied for the recovery of phenolic compounds with antioxidant activity and a variety of biological actions. The selective recovery and concentration of the phenolic compounds from the liquid phase separated from further diluted winery wastes has been proposed. Adsorption onto non ionic polymeric resins and further desorption with ethanolic solut...

Solid state biomethanation of fruit wastes.

Overtones of fruit wastes accumulate daily in the city of Chennai, India and there is an urgent need to develop, assess and use ecofriendly methods to dispose them. Presently an attempt has been made to study solid state biomethanation of fruit wastes using a laboratory scale anaerobic digester Fruit wastes containing 3%, 4% and 5% solids were used for experimentation. Daily and cumulative prod...
